Picture this: my old phone would not charge and I had to upgrade to a new phone. $400 later, I had a brand new sleek Samsung Galaxy S5. The side is just a bit taller than the device itself creating a tiny lip around the screen, preventing contact of your screen with the surface you place it on, which means scuffs or potential hits that could lead to cracks are avoided.
